You Can Add LeBron James To The List Of Lakers Who Are Talking A Whole Bunch Of Shit Before Their Rematch With The Nuggets To Open The NBA Season
Tomorrow night, for the first time in their franchise's history the Denver Nuggets will collect their championship rings and raise their championship banner to the rafters. It should be a pretty awesome moment for a team that had a postseason run filled with some of the most impressive playoff performances we've ever seen in the history of the sport, and there's nothing quite like winning your first chip. Those are going to me memories that stay with those fans forever. Shit, I still get emotional thinking about the first Celts banner I've ever seen with my own eyes back in 2008 and that was another lifetime ago (sigh).
As fun as that moment is going to be, you know deep down the players (and their coach) have to love the fact that it's happening against the Lakers. Not only did the Nuggets sweep LA on the way to their ring, but now they get to raise a banner right in their eyeball. Given that this is maybe one of the newer rivalries we have in the West, that should add some extra juice to our season kick off tomorrow.
Not only that, there's also the fact that ever since that series/Nuggets championship parade, the Lakers have certainly done a lot of talking
You know how they say the loudest people are usually the most insecure? When it comes to the Denver Nuggets, that's exactly how I would describe the Lakers. It's not just their coach and AD, LeBron also couldn't help himself
Alright no one cares about Dillon Brooks, I think we all agree LeBron got the best of that matchup. I mean, he forced Brooks to run and hide after kicking his ass. That's tough.
Also, it wasn't really Michael Malone that said anything about being the Lakers' Daddy, even if it's true. That was Vic Lombardi.
But these are details that don't really matter in the shit talking game. LeBron talking about how there will be a time where "everyone will get it"….well how about Opening Night?
That's what makes tomorrow night so intriguing to me. Not just because basketball is back, but the very first game we get is a chance for the Lakers to back up all the noise they've been talking this summer. Yeah the Nuggets talk shit, they're the champs. They swept LA. When you do that, you can talk shit.
The way Darvin Ham, AD, and now LeBron are talking, well you better go out and back that shit up. You can't get blown out to open the season, on ring night, against this specific Nugget team after talking about how you can't wait to play them and this shit ain't over and there will be a time where everyone gets theirs. Notice how we're not really seeing any of these type of quotes coming from the Nuggets side?
While deep down I don't truly think Murray sees this as just another game, I do generally agree that the Nuggets have certainly not spent the offseason obsessing over the Lakers or talking about the Lakers. To me that shows how confident and secure they are. If they go out, get their rings, raise their banner, and then whoop that ass again? Oh boy.
